Your Questions, Answered.

You probably have a lot of questions. Let's dive in.

Getting Started

What is EDS Connective and how do I get access?

EDS Connective is a virtual health platform that connects people with doctors who are expertly trained in the diagnosis of hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (hEDS) and Hypermobility Spectrum Disorder (HSD). We exist because most people wait over 20 years for an hEDS diagnosis — not because they're "too complex" or because diagnosis isn't important, but because they lack access to qualified care. We're changing that. Our provider network is made up of independent, board-certified MDs and DOs, ECHO-trained by the Ehlers-Danlos Society. Evaluations are based on the official diagnostic criteria. 100% online. No referrals needed. Available in all 50 states and Washington D.C. Learn more about us.

The wait is nearly over. We launch in late Summer 2026. Join our waitlist to get early access.

Independent providers in the EDS Connective network are licensed across the United States of America, available in all 50 states and Washington D.C. Patients must be physically located in a licensed state or D.C. at the time of their evaluation and will be asked to confirm their state of residence. Visits are completed 100% online, asynchronously, so no travel is required and no appointments are necessary. Learn more about locations we serve.

Yes, patients must be physically located in the United States, in a state where a provider is licensed, at the time of their evaluation.

No referral needed. You can come directly to us.

Our services are currently available for individuals 18 years of age and older. We'll share updates if we expand to pediatric services in the future.

Yes. Your evaluation is reviewed by independent, board-certified MDs and DOs in the EDS Connective network. Providers undergo comprehensive training in EDS and hypermobility disorders developed in collaboration with expert advisors at the Ehlers-Danlos Society. This includes ongoing learning through an exclusive EDS ECHO program centered on case-based collaboration, expert guidance, and shared best practices. EDS Connective is also founded, owned, and operated by someone with hEDS, because we believe care built from lived experience makes a difference. Learn more about our provider network.

The Evaluation

How does the evaluation actually work?

We believe that your lived experience is important evidence. You'll complete a thorough online intake questionnaire and assessment covering your symptoms, medical history, and hypermobility. The self-led intake can be done at your own pace, with no appointment needed, no waiting rooms, and no travel required for a gentler experience. Your doctor will review your answers, asking questions where further clarification is required. All communciations between you and the doctor are asynchronous, via messaging and/or video on a telehealth platform. About 3-5 days after your intake is submitted, you'll receive your official diagnostic results and documentation, a detailed clinical report for you and your primary care team, provider letter, letter of medical necessity, and educational resources. Learn more about our process.

The intake questionnaire and assessment takes approximately 1 hour to complete, though it can be done entirely at your own pace. We only ask that it is submitted within 30 days of purchase. After submission, your provider will review your case and you'll receive your results in approximately 3-5 days.

This is an important question. In a perfect world, everyone would have access to an affordable in-person evaluation by a qualified provider with sufficient training in hEDS and HSD diagnosis. But in reality, far too many people still lack access to that level of care. We exist to fill that gap. With the guidance of the world’s leading clinicians and organizations in the field and advanced technology behind the scenes, we’re building the best platform we possibly can within the inherent limitations of virtual care. After your evaluation, we recommend following up with your primary care team to review your results in person and address anything that needs hands-on attention.

The independent providers in our network specialize in hEDS and HSD diagnostic evaluation. They also screen for red flags that may indicate other subtypes of EDS or connective tissue disorders may be present. If indicated, yoru provider may provide a referral for medical-grade genetic testing and counseling.

Your provider will screen for signs that may indicate other EDS subtypes or connective tissue disorders that require genetic confirmation. If indicated, they may provide a referral for medical grade genetic testing and counseling through a third party lab. Your clinical report will include specific details on what was identified and whether genetic testing was recommended.

A full evaluation is required in order for your provider to understand your condition and to determine when genetic testing is appropriate. There is not a separate product for people who only want a genetic testing referral.

Questions relating to symptoms of POTS, MCAS, and other common comorbidities are included in the intake questionnaire. Your provider will not diagnose these conditions, but relevant findings will be noted in your post-visit clinical reports for you and your primary care team.

Cost & Insurance

What does it cost and how does payment work?

A comprehensive hEDS & HSD diagnostic evaluation is $399, which includes referrals for genetic testing where indicated, post-visit documentation, and educational resources. Flexible payment plans may be offered at checkout, and you may be able to submit your purchase for HSA/FSA reimbursement. A limited amount of financial assistance is available. Our commitment is to make evaluation as affordable and accessible as possible, pricing our services lower than most specialty clinics.

We are currently self-pay and do not accept insurance, including Medicaid or Medicare. Operating outside of insurance helps us to avoid pre-authorizations and coverage restrictions that can delay care. We work to keep our pricing as accessible as possible — lower than many traditional specialty evaluations — and offer flexible payment options and financial assistance for those who qualify. Your purchase may be eligible for HSA/FSA reimbursement.

Your evaluation may be eligible for HSA or FSA reimbursement, depending on your specific health plan and its requirements. You will pay for your evaluation at the time of purchase, then submit your receipt and After Visit Summary (which includes a Letter of Medical Necessity) to your HSA/FSA administrator for reimbursement if applicable. Coverage and reimbursement decisions are made solely by your HSA/FSA plan administrator. We recommend contacting your plan directly if you have questions about your specific benefits.

Yes. 5% of every EDS Connective purchase funds our Financial Assistance Program, which offers a significant discount on evaluations to a limited number of recipients each month. No proof of financial need is required. (We believe you.)

To apply, complete our short application at edsconnective.com/financial-assistance. It takes about 10 minutes — no documentation, no income verification, just your story. Applications are reviewed monthly by our team, and selections are made based on your diagnostic journey, what receiving answers would mean for you, and your financial situation. Only recipients are contacted, and you remain in consideration automatically each month until selected or you let us know you no longer need assistance.

If selected, you'll receive an email with a discount code valid for 60 days. If your circumstances change at any point — or you no longer need assistance — just email us at hello@edsconnective.com and we'll update or remove your application, no explanation needed.

We're proud to be the exclusive Diamond Sponsor of the Ehlers-Danlos Society. Approximately 20% of our revenue goes directly toward supporting their research, education, and advocacy initiatives. Additionally, 5% of every EDS Connective purchase funds our Financial Assistance Program for patients who need it most. We believe in reinvesting in the community we serve. After Diagnosis

What happens after I get my results?

After your evaluation is completed, you'll receive your results and after-visit documentation in your secure client portal. Additional resources will be sent via email. Results are typically available within 3–5 days following your intake submission.

We recommend scheduling a follow-up appointment with your primary care provider or other treating healthcare professional after receiving your results. They can review your detailed evaluation, confirm the findings, and discuss appropriate next steps based on your individual needs, which may include additional testing, imaging, referrals, treatments, or supportive therapies. We also encourage you to carefully review all documentation and explore the educational resources provided with your evaluation, which may help you to move forward with increased confidence in understanding your condition.

Our focus is diagnosis; providers in our network do not provide ongoing care or treatment. After your evaluation, the goal is to equip you and your care team with the information and resources you need to move forward. Our services are not a replacement or substitute for your primary care team, but a tool to assist and strengthen that existing partnership.

Not meeting hEDS or HSD criteria doesn't mean your symptoms aren't real and deserving of care. Where indicated, your provider will recommend further evaluation by your primary care provider in your after-visit documentation. If your symptoms or health history change in a way that you suspect may change your diagnosis, you can get a significantly discounted re-evaluation through EDS Connective within 1 year of your initial encounter. Learn more about our re-evaluation policy.

Our primary focus is diagnostic evaluation for those who are undiagnosed. If you already have an hEDS or HSD diagnosis and need genetic testing referrals, we require a full evaluation to understand your condition and determine when genetic testing is appropriate. If your existing diagnosis was given informally, feels uncertain, or you need proper clinical documentation — for insurance, accommodations, disability purposes, or to support your care team — our evaluation and provider letter can provide that formal foundation.

We respect that perspectives can vary. For many patients, diagnosis can provide clarity, validation, documentation for accommodations, and direction for care — even when treatment options are supportive rather than curative. Having an accurate diagnosis can help guide management decisions and monitoring over time. It also matters for safety: people with hEDS and HSD may respond differently to certain medications, anesthesia, and procedures.

There are two reasons you might want a re-evaluation: your symptoms, medical history, or family history have changed significantly since your original evaluation, or you were evaluated under the 2017 diagnostic criteria and want to be re-evaluated once we've integrated the updated 2026 criteria — expected to be released in December 2026. In either case, a re-evaluation is available. Pricing depends on when you were originally evaluated. If your first evaluation was in 2026, re-evaluations requested within one year are available at $98 — our early adopter rate for patients who trusted us from the start. If your first evaluation is in 2027 or later, re-evaluations within one year of your original evaluation are $198. After the one-year window, re-evaluations are available at the standard rate of $399. To learn more, please review our Purchase, Re-Evaluation, and Refund Policy To request a re-evaluation, contact us at support@edsconnective.com.

If you're already waited years or decades for answers, we don't want to make you wait even longer for the new diagnostic criteria to be released. That's why we created our significantly discounted re-evaluation pricing - only $98 - for users who get their initial evaluation in 2025 and wish to get a re-evaluation after the new criteria are released. The updated hEDS and HSD diagnostic criteria and classifications are expected to be released in December 2026, and we're committed to making all necessary updates to our platform as quickly as possible at that time. To learn more, please review our Purchase, Re-Evaluation, and Refund Policy To request a re-evaluation, contact us at support@edsconnective.com

We understand that receiving results that don't match what you expected can be difficult, especially after a long diagnostic journey. Please review our Purchase, Refund, and Re-Evaluation Policy, and contact us to discuss your concerns at support@edsconnective.com.
